Briton in court over attack on police officers -By Nation
A Briton linked to the Al-Shabaab terror group and who is serving a three-year jail term was on Wednesday charged with raiding a police camp in Wajir County

He was allegedly part of a gang that escaped with a government vehicle and weapons worth more than Sh4.2 million during the attack, Nairobi chief magistrate Esther Maina was told on Wednesday.

Jermain John Grant, alias Ali Mohammed Ibrahim, alias Peter Joseph denied seven capital charges when he was arraigned before Ms Maina.

Grant and others not before the court, are accused of raiding Dadajabala Administration Police post where they stole guns, bullets and a government vehicle.

The Briton, who was jailed last December by a Mombasa court for being in Kenya illegally and lying about his name, was brought to court from Shimo la Tewa Prison remand where he is serving term.

“The accused herein is a serving convict. We sought his production in court today (Wednesday) from Shimo la Tewa Prison,” Superintendent Onesmus Towett told the cour

He urged the court to allocate the case an early hearing date since the suspect “is currently serving a jail term.”.
